We ate at Escondido a little bit ago. Pictured below: Breakfast Chicken Mole Enchiladas (Achiote Braised Chicken, Rolled, Mole Negro, Sesame Seeds, Chipotle Crema, Breakfast Potatoes, Beans, Eggs, Queso Fresco); Barbacoa Croquettes (Braised Beef Cheek Barbacoa Croquettes, Chipotle Aioli); Totopos and Salsa Verde y Roja (House-Made Tortilla Chips, Green and Red Salsas); Ancho Chile Pots de Creme (Vanilla Bean Creme Anglaise); Pepino Picante (Mezcal Blanco, Cucumber Juice, Lemon Juice, Serrano Simple Syrup); Stacked Chorizo Potato Flautas Special. Alec was our server; she was attentive, kind and knowledgeable. Everyone on staff had the balance of being attentive without hovering down to a science. It was busy for Sunday brunch and they only served from the brunch menu. Reservations were definitely needed but I think there was seating at the bar for people walking in. We were able to be seated ahead of our reservation time and that was greatly appreciated. Even though it was busy (I edited most patrons out of the last picture) they got all of our orders out quickly. Everything was served hot and fresh. The flavors/textures were well balanced across the board. We both thought the flavors in chorizo could have been kicked up but we could understand that some big flavors might not suit everyone's taste. My breakfast chicken mole enchiladas were excellent and I appreciated the tender chicken. Our dessert reminded me of Natillas and was the perfect serving size. We drove up today from Lemitar just to dine at Escondido and we will probably do it again.
Taco Tuesday

This is the Taco Tuesday review Special: 4 Tacos Cost: 16.00 The tacos here are absolutely delicious! The only downside is that you can only pick two types of meat from the eight available options—I’d love to try them all. Each order comes with both red and green salsa, and while both are tasty, the green salsa is the real standout. The service is excellent, with attentive and always-available staff ensuring a great dining experience. The restaurant itself is clean, inviting, and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. One unique touch is the portrait of the owner, which not only tells a story but also highlights his commitment to supporting Santa Fe needs through his restaurant. That kind of community involvement deserves recognition—thank you for that! Overall, this spot delivers on flavor, service, and heart. Definitely worth a visit! Let me know if you'd like any tweaks!

Best mole I've tasted in 15 years! The food is beautifully presented and the staff is attentive. The atmosphere is chic and upscale, but prices are reasonable. Chef Ruiz, his wife, and partners were at a nearby table and greeted everyone who stopped to chat. Great place to take a date! Went back on my birthday in Dec and had the Chile en Nogada - mi Tia had the Mahi Mahi. Both were delicioso. Dessert was on the house!

Ooof is this place breathtaking! I have the best margarita I’ve ever had in my entire life (and we have a home in Mexico so I thought I’d had the best). I also had the chicken tacos which were fantastic. Our server was exceptional as well. Looking forward to our next trip here

We got into Escondido just ahead of the rush. We started with Oysters Montaditos and Barabacoa croquettes. The oysters have a little bit of spiciness from the salsa negra balanced nicely by the lime and the mezcal mignonette. The Barbacoa Croquettes could have been a little bit hotter, but they were perfectly fried and the flavor of the Chipotle aoli won me over. We had an order of pork belly tacos and an order of four tacos, two barbacoa and carne asada each. The salsas served with the tacos were excellent, the beer was cold, and overall it wasfantastic. Our server was great too. I think we definitely be back.

Amazing food! Chili En Nogada stole the show but the four tacos were really tasty as well. Server was quick to take drink and app orders but took a good fifteen minutes after we had finished apps to come back to take main orders and it wasn’t that busy - this the 4 stars on service. Might have been a one off but my suggestion would be to order mains while ordering apps and drinks unless you have a lot of time. Still the food is amazing so highly recommend!

Exquisite experience at Escondido! The atmosphere was hip and relaxed. Customer service was superb. We started with the delicious Queso and spicy Esquites. SOOO GOOD! My Wife had the Pork Belly tacos and I had the Tacos Al Pastor, both of which were flavors galore! These were the best tacos I've ever had in my LIFE. Had to try the smooth blackened garlic mash spuds and the crunchy broccolini. We feasted like Kings! Next time we'll save room for dessert. If you have awesome taste buds, you will thoroughly enjoy this establishment. I would give this restaurant 6 stars if I could.

Our visit to Escondido in Santa Fe was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we sat down, the service was flawless. Attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring. The staff never let our drinks run low and were completely on top of everything we needed without ever feeling intrusive. We started with the sopes and calamari appetizers, and both were bursting with flavor. But the real standout? That calamari sauce was absolutely exquisite. I literally had to close my eyes and savor every bite. It was that good. For our main course, we had the breakfast enchiladas with mole, and I can’t stop thinking about them. The mole was rich and perfectly balanced, and the chicken was moist and tender. Everything you want it to be. And just when we thought we were done, we ordered the flan and wow. Easily the best flan I’ve ever had. Creamy, smooth, and not overly sweet. I’m so glad we decided to go for dessert because it was a perfect ending to an incredible meal. Even the coffee stood out. It was just pour-over with creamer, but the creamer had this richness that elevated the whole cup. Sometimes it’s the simple touches that make a big difference. If you’re in Santa Fe, Escondido is an absolute must. The food, the service, the atmosphere, every bit of it felt thoughtful, high-quality, and worth savoring. I truly hope we get the chance to go back someday. We were just visiting family, but this meal will stay with us.
